On a quest to make Ottawa one of Canada’s healthiest cities, Wellness Experts, Dr. Nathalie Beauchamp, owner of Beauchamp Chiropractic: A Creating Wellness Centre, and Deborah MacDonald, Executive Director of EvolvHealth are the minds behind the 6th annual Orleans Health & Wellness Expo.



The primary focus of the Health & Wellness Expo came as a direct result of the very same questions I was being asked by my patients on a regular basis. Although people were very motivated, at the same time they were feeling overwhelmed by the abundance of information that was readily available about health products and healthy living in their community. This is where the inspiration for the Wellness Expo began.

My goal was to develop a show focused on healthy lifestyle choices that improve mental, physical and bio-chemical health. Here are some examples of the questions I was being asked in my practice and during my lectures and seminars:

-- Should I buy organic food? If so, what kind and where do I find it?
-- What kind of vitamins should I take? Do my kids need vitamins?
-- How can I stay fit with my busy schedule?
-- What strategies can I implement to handle stress more efficiently?
-- Who should I have as part of my wellness team?

Adding the green aspect to the expo this year only seemed like a logical progression with the growing awareness on one’s health and on the environment. Questions from my patients have also risen in regard to the environment. People want to know what they can do at home or in the community to ensure that they protect themselves and the health of their family as well as protecting the planet.

-- How can I save energy for my home?
-- How can I Reduce, Reuse and Recycle as best as I can?
-- How can I decrease my carbon footprint?
-- How safe is my water?
-- Is the air that I’m breathing clean?

This will be the sixth year for the Expo - drawing on my experience in the natural healthcare field for over a decade. I am taking my experience and pouring it into a community show where the public could have their health and wellness questions answered, and now, where their environmental concerns can also be addressed. Whether you want more information on managing stress, natural beauty products, different healthcare professionals, natural and safe supplements or how to have a greener home, show attendees will leave with a wealth of knowledge.
