Breakfast linked to children's progress
(NC) — Growing, learning and playing are important for a child's
development, experts say, and to make the most out of their busy days, a
child needs a wholesome breakfast. Did you know that for a number of
Canadian children, eating breakfast at home simply isn't an option?
Living in poverty, lack of childcare, or long travel times are all
reasons why breakfast at home is impossible for some children. There is
an answer however. For the past 15 years, Breakfast Clubs of Canada and
Club des petits déjeuners du Québec have been dedicated to providing
services and funding to school breakfast programs across Canada.
Since their introduction, Breakfast Clubs of Canada and Club des petits
déjeuners du Québec have established breakfast programs in more than
1,000 schools across Canada. In addition to feeding hunger, these
breakfast programs have a positive impact on students' productivity and
success. In fact, teaching staff have reported at least 30 minutes more
effective teaching time, per day, as a result of the breakfast programs
in their schools.
These breakfast programs are a great asset to communities and, this
fall, through the support of the Minute Maid brand, Breakfast Clubs of
Canada and Club des petits déjeuners du Québec will be able to provide
healthy breakfasts for over 119,000 Canadian school children every
morning.
When Canadians buy any one of Minute Maid's participating 100% juice
products between August 20th and September 16th, the company will give a
portion of sales up to a maximum of $150,000 to Breakfast Clubs of
Canada. More information is available online at minutemaid.ca.
