SHARON Stone has been ordered to pay over $CAN 200,000 for compensation to a workman who slipped and hurt his knee in her back garden.

Peter Krause claimed he lost his footing on mud as he set up a sound system at the Basic Instinct star's home in California.

He grabbed a lattice fence to steady himself but it gave way and he fell 12ft down a slope into a neighbouring garden.

Stone, 53, was found guilty of negligence for having a flimsy fence.

Krause wanted over $CAN 1.4 M for pain and loss of earnings.

But he was awarded the lower sum at Los Angeles Superior Court.
