Fashion Press Releases: Eight writing tips ensure success

There are rules for writing a press release that are needed to be followed. Before submitting a press release make sure, your editor does not delete it. Follow the simple steps below to ensure your work gets published without somebody hitting the “delete” button.

1. Attention-Grabbing Headline:

For a fashion journalist, it is important to use a short, catchy headline to grab the attention of the reader. Before you write, do a little research over the internet to get the right idea on how your headline should be?

Secondly, make sure your headline defines the story. If you fail to do so, say a good-bye to your writing dream.

2.  Picture This:

Always use a great picture to tell your story to your readers. It becomes easier for a fashion journalist to approach the right readers by adding a picture to your story. Images are necessary to tell your readers about the product description. Your readers would never get an idea on how a Chanel vintage coat looks like in real as long as you put a picture with your story.

3. Paint (your story) by Numbers:

Numbers play an important role. Avoid stuffing your news or your story with “all numbers and no words” strategy. Use numbers or percentage of the consumers using that specific product or how many ladies have bought that handbag or simply list the prices to make it easier for the shoppers.

4.  Keep it Short:

Keep it short, keep it simple. Pitch your story by using minimum words. Don’t think you can inspire your readers by lengthy details. Trust me, you would end up making them bore. Use simple language. It’s not your English class. Your story should be readable rather horrible!

5.  Funny How? Like a Clown:

It’s Ok to use humor as long as you don’t sound cheesy in your writings. Humor creates interest and grabs the attention of the reader. But avoid being sarcastic or cracking lewd jokes; it’s only going to damage your reputation.

6.  Write It Like a News Story:

Be sure your story answers all the possible questions that can appear in the mind of a reader. Make sure your story answers Who, What, Why, Where, When and How in the first paragraph. Master the art of articulating the facts in an organized manner. Randomness can kill the essence.

7.  Kill the Canned Quotes:

Add few quotes to enhance the authenticity of your information but avoid using long quotes that are irrelevant with the material.

8.  Use Some Bullet Points:

Always use bullet points to break up your information. Make it easier for the readers to understand the underlying concept or the information you are trying to pass on to your prospective readership.
