Loblaw Companies fails to take responsibility for discrimination at Shoppers Drug Mart

According to recent reports Blackbird Security personnel at the Shoppers Drug Mart in Ottawa's Rideau Centre were accused of discriminatory behavior and racial profiling. Concerns about discriminatory treatment of racialized people have reportedly been raised by allegations and observations of consumers being aggressively pursued and observed.

According to a report, a customer at the Rideau Centre Shoppers Drug Mart was subjected to aggressive surveillance by a security guard while they were shopping. The guard claimed to be "doing their job," according to Tobj.ca.

The incident reveals a discrepancy between Loblaw Companies declared policies and the customer experience.

Although these particular findings just focus on the Rideau Centre, there have been other complaints of discrimination at other Shoppers Drug Mart locations..
