Hero Of Nation Kashmir

A tyrant dies and his rule is over and a martyr dies his rule begins. A hero is born once in thousand years and so was the shaheed mohammad maqbool bhat born from a peasant family in trehgam frontier district of kupwara in February 1938 and was buried viciously in tihar jail on 11 Feb 1984. He was the first Kashmiri to be judicially martyred on Indian soil making him first authentic martyrer of Kashmir resistance.

Today Shaheed mohammad maqbool is known as shaheed e azam . He was wrongly imprisoned by Pakistan and then later unlawfully noosed by India. In the year of 1962 Muhammad Maqbool Bhat formed a movement called Kashmir Independence Committee (KIC). This group was later merged into the newly formed Jammu Kashmir ‘Mahaz-Rayee-Shumari’ in Azad Kashmir which was a crusade for complete independence from India. Shaheed Mohammad Maqbool was sentenced to death by court on charge of murder later after 2 years he along with 2 others succeeded in breaking the prison by digging 38 foot underground tunnel and reached Kashmir after playing much hide and seek with Indian forces but later on where arrested.  They were brutally interrogated in the black fort.

He was a man with iron will of free Kashmir which we people of Kashmir are still dreaming and hope one day will come true. Twenty four years on since Kashmir’s first dreamer for independent Kashmir was sent to gallows his dream his prophecy and his legacy lives on and will live till we will commit right of self determination. He is known as father of nation Kashmir.

He has become an icon of Kashmir resistance moment as well as for countless political groups both within and outside te valley of Kashmir. 11 February is being commemorated as shaheed Maqbool Bhats’s death anniversary. On this day Kashmir’s remember their hero with honour and pride. Kashmiri group on both side of line of control and all over the world remembers him. He is a man born after his death who grown up with the only undisputed name in Kashmir’s turbulent history are not likely to forget his dream and his mission. On the fateful day of 11th February every one speaks about the goal and message of Shaheed-e-Kashmir but no one follows it by true heart. That name will live on for centuries. Doesn’t matter how long be the night the dawn will break.
