Ottawa: Arts and Entertainment Roundup - March 23

Music wise, things will be busy over at Babylon on Friday night. The Nearly Naked Truth fundraiser for Planned Parenthood kicks off the evening, featuring Rockalily Burlesque and DJ Bad Guy. Later that night, the decks will be passed to a plethora of local DJs from Ottawa’s best dance parties to raise a few funds for CHUO. While The Pelts take to the Rainbow, Oh Susanna‘s folky roots tunes will be out at the Black Sheep along with Treasures.  It’s also Indie Night on Friday down at the Daily Grind – this time, they’re featuring the ukulele-playing spoken word artist Brad Morden, and a few other local musicians. And want to celebrate Brock’s birthday? Head over to Irene’s for the celebratory show. Kick off your Saturday night with a bit of Old Stereo down at Zaphods – their pop-blues-funk-rock tunes will be joined by the Matt Dorgan Project and Les Mosquitos. Brooklyn indie-rockers Oberhofer will take the stage at Cafe Deckuf, while jazz guitarist Mike Rud will be at GigSpace. If your toes are in need of tapping, NQ Arbuckle and The British Columbians will be out at the Black Sheep Saturday. On Sunday, In Media Res wraps up your weekend at Raw Sugar.

Dance parties get a whole section of their own this week: who doesn’t love the idea of a German Sparkle Party? And zombies, disco and dancing come together at the Rochester Pub Saturday night. If you like your dancing a little rawkier with a dash of fundraising thrown in, head over to Avant Garde for a CHUO show with Pretty Little Death Machine, This Ship and more.

The Reel Food Film Festival is showing To Make a Farm tonight as part of their on going series. Keeping with that series theme, the AB one continues with Duncan Mercredi at Gallery 101 Friday night. Sense-say will be on stage at Capital Slam that night, while down in Sandy Hill you can attend the Hunger Banquet.

And as per usual, there are a ton of other events over in our calendar that you should get yourself over to. Anything essential we’ve forgotten? Let us know below!
