The iPhone 5 release date may arrive much sooner than previously expected. Earlier predictions had slated the new Apple smartphone launch date for September or October, but new sources say the 6th generation iOS 6 gadget may hit the scene a bit sooner than that.

An article at Christian Post says a "reliable industry source who wishes to remain anonymous" claims a new leak hints "that an early August event will unveil Apple's next generation smartphone to the world." It is believed Apple plans to have a keynote speech at this upcoming event, during which analysts and fans alike believe the official iPhone 5 release date will be announced.

If Apple is holding an event in August, it does seem likely they will announce and preview the new iPhone. However, the handset will not likely debut right away. Usually there is a small wait between when Apple announces their new gadgets, and when the device actually hits stores to go one sale.
