Celebrate Canada: A Festive Period

Canadians are celebrating an eleven day period marked with festivities to celebrate Canada from June 21 to July 1. The beginning of this 11 day festive season is marked with National Aboriginal Day that is celebrated on 21st June and then Saint- Jean Baptiste follows on 24th June. They continue with the festive period by celebrating Canadian Multiculturalism day on June 27th and Canada day celebrated on 1st July marks the end.

Canadians are encouraged to participate in the different festivities and use this period to their advantage to learn and discover more about the Aboriginal people and get to know more about the French Canadian traditions. There are different communities from all over the world who call Canada home and it can be quite an experience learning about them. And the most important of all celebrating the national holiday.

Canada History Week will also be launched this year and will be celebrated every year from 1st July to 7th July. The main purpose of Canada History Week is to give people an opportunity to reflect on the great nation of Canada. People will have the chance to learn about the history of their country, take a tour in the museum and get a chance to visit at least one of the country’s historic sites.  Taking part in one of the local events that celebrates the history of the community can also be of much help.

There are so many exciting people, places and events in the history of Canada to be learnt. An example of this is the commemoration of the 100th anniversary to celebrate the first major scientific expedition in Canada to the Arctic. The groundbreaking work of the Canadian Arctic Expedition has contributed to the scientific, social and cultural knowledge of the Arctic in Canada. It has made the people of Canada understand each other deeply and thus unifying the country in general.

In 2017, four years to come Canada will mark its 150th anniversary of Celebrate Canada. It will be a wonderful opportunity during Celebrate Canada for people to take time in reflecting the history and achievements of their communities and come up with ways to celebrate the values, heritage and a bright future of the country in 2017.

Canadians are invited to participate in celebrating the rich cultural history of their country and take pride in celebrating 146 years of Canada.
