Judge rules election fraud did occur -- So why is government still ruling?

There is now evidence found in a federal court of voter suppression in the last federal election which occurred in May of 2011. Certain MPs have even been identified in connection with the robo-fraud scandal however a judge refuses to eject the Conservative MPs from their positions.

Not only does this send a bad message to the individuals in question -- that they are above the law and are able to do whatever they need to do (legal or not), to achieve their ends, it is an embarrassment to democracy in this country. There is always much criticism in the West of regimes like Iran for suppression of votes, accusations of buying elections and lack of transparency, but are we really much better?

Iran is currently growing through an election, and thus far the regime has been accused of disrupting internet access as well as disqualifying candidates that the current regime feels do not meet their agenda. According to a May 24th article by Arshad Mohammed for Reuters, U.S secretary of State John Kerry has been concerned about the legitimacy of the Iranian election.

“Ultimately the Iranian people (will) be prevented not only from choosing someone who might have reflected their point of view, but also taking part in a way that is essential to any kind of legitimate democracy," he said.

We read information about lack of transparency and election fraud in other countries, shaking our heads and feeling bad for the citizens in ‘those’ countries while ignoring the existence of the same problems in our own country. Judge Mosely -- in his court decision obtained by the CBC’s Laura Payton May 23rd 2013- had  reviewed the election fraud case, admitting that there had been fraud however he did not annul the results.

"I am satisfied that [it] has been established that misleading calls about the locations of polling stations were made to electors in ridings across the country, including the subject ridings, and that the purpose of those calls was to suppress the votes of electors who had indicated their voting preference in response to earlier voter identification calls," Mosely wrote in his findings.

With this story going from simple allegations to fact, why are we content with letting an illegitimate Conservative government sit and rule? We have more in common with regimes like Iran than we think.
