Dieting: Earn your food for a Healthy Living

There are hundreds of tips, suggestions and guidances available all over to counter obesity. Some suggest exercise, some suggest dieting, some suggest a combination of both. The best method to counter obesity which works for every individual is ‘earn your food’.

Earn your food?

Don’t fret. Everybody earns their food. But this ‘earn’ has a different meaning. Here earning means the eligibility for calorie input, which should be proportionate to the calories burnt. A calorie is the measure of energy.

The calories we burn depends on the activities, age, the weight of the person. As age progresses, our activities take a slower pace and hence the calorie burnt out will be less. Eating habits should also be changed according to this, to balance the input and output of calories to maintain optimum weight and health. When this fact is ignored and the input of calories is more than the output, energy or calories accumulates in our body resulting in obesity, which is the root cause of many other health irregularities.

Using this logic, two options can be put forth, one is to reduce the input of calories or increase the output of calories. Even when we are not doing any activity, our body burns calories, but this will be the minimum. To burn more calories you have to do more activities. If you want to eat, you have to work. Using this simple logic, you can reduce, maintain or increase weight as per your requirement.

Here are some suggestions for reducing accumulation of calories:

1.    Keep yourself active for 10-15 minutes just after lunch and dinner.

2.    Let there be a gap of minimum 2-3 hours between dinner and sleeping time.

3.    Avoid using vehicle for short distances.

4.    Avoid using elevators, take the stairs instead.

5.    Eat fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables.

These tips are easy to follow, do not require any extra effort but at the same time are effective. By following these tips, you will be ‘earning’ your food, which you can enjoy with more comfort.
