China recommends Vitamin C for treating coronavirus

(Natural News) If you carry out a search for coronavirus and vitamin C, many of the top matches are mainstream outlets warning people that it’s nothing more than a myth. Yet doctors in the thick of the outbreak are taking a very different view. After carrying out successful clinical trials, the government of Shanghai, China, is now officially recommending that high amounts of intravenous vitamin C be used to treat the novel coronavirus, COVID-19.

The dosage they recommend depends on the severity of the individual’s illness, but it ranges from 50 to 200 milligrams per kilogram of body weight, per day. That equates to roughly 4,000 to 16,000 milligrams in adults. This is according to reports from the Orthomolecular Medicine News Service.

According to Dr. Atsuo Yanagisawa, an intravenous therapy expert and president of the Japanese College of Intravenous Therapy, the delivery method is important because the effect of vitamin C is ten times greater when it is administered via IV versus being taken orally. He stated: “Intravenous vitamin C is a safe, effective, and broad-spectrum antiviral.”

Another expert who echoes this sentiment is Chinese-American specialist physician Dr. Richard Z. Cheng. He has been working closely with Chinese medical and governmental authorities and helped to facilitate clinical studies there into the use of IV vitamin C.

Meanwhile, a statement by the Xi’an Jiaotong University Second Hospital explained how high-dose vitamin C “achieved good results in clinical applications.” They said they believe patients suffering from severe pneumonia and those who are critically ill should be started on vitamin C treatment as soon as possible after being admitted to the hospital as the early application of big doses of the vitamin can curb inflammatory responses, restore endothelial function and serve as a strong antioxidant.

They go on to state that not only can high-dose vitamin C improve people’s antiviral levels, but even more importantly in the case of this disease, it can prevent and help to treat acute respiratory distress and acute lung injury.

One of the most common causes of death related to coronavirus, the flu and other respiratory infections is an inflammatory response known as a cytokine storm. This response is so strong that it damages the body seriously or even causes the patient to die. Vitamin C helps keep this response under control, however, maintaining it at a safer point for healing instead of inflicting additional damage.

Why isn’t the mainstream media covering this?

Of course, this is something you’re unlikely to see touted on the morning shows or the evening news on the big networks. The mainstream media will continue to tell people to follow the advice of their doctors and gloss over any positive results that are being achieved by natural treatments like vitamin C – even if the good results are being seen in official medical settings in other countries.

So far, at least three different studies into using IV vitamin C to fight coronavirus have been approved in China, with the first one using as much as 24,000 milligrams per day of the vitamin. The second study, which was approved in mid-February, entails giving those with moderate cases 6,000 milligrams per day and administering 12,000 milligrams per day to those whose cases are more severe. The researchers involved in that study would also like to explore whether oral vitamin C might have an effect.

It has also been reported that all-natural oxygen therapy has been used to fight coronavirus successfully in South Korea – another bit of news you might not have heard if you stick only to the mainstream outlets.

The coronavirus pandemic is likely to get worse before it gets better, and suppressing stories about treatments that are genuinely helping people in other parts of the world does the public a huge disservice.
