Ottawa's gas prices are too high

On Wednesday, I filled up at the Wellington Street-Parkdale Avenue Petro Canada at $127.7 a litre. That’s too much.

Check out this chart from Barchart. Gasoline as a commodity has bounced around in price all summer, but the retail price has been above $1.20 a litre regularly.

Now there isn’t a direct correlation between gas prices and oil prices, but they are linked. Look at the price of West Texas Intermediate on Barchart.

Look I’m in favour of letting the market price of oil determine consumption. That’s a green initiative.

But there is something funny about oil prices staying low for a long time, while the retail price of gas remains high.

We paid a bad toll with a difficult recession due to bad banking practices. Do we want another recession due to unrealistically high gas prices?
