Montreal: Transport Quebec zigzags through Autoroute 20

Transport Quebec is apparently employing shaky-handed workers to paint highway lines.

Check out the squiggly yellow line on Highway 20 in the Ville St. Pierre Interchange (click on the photo to see a bigger version).

The zigzag may be funny but it’s also a safety issue, according to Jeremy Zafran, traffic reporter at CBC Radio’s Homerun afternoon show. He who snapped the photo this week. He says the yellow line is skewed from about the Angrignon Interchange to 1st Ave. in Lachine.

In an email, Zafran tells me Transport Quebec is aware of the situation:

They apprently ‘ran out’ of the material lines they place down and instead temporarily painted the lines (in washable paint) and when their schedule permits (marking scheduling) they will return to the scene and fix the job.

Transport Quebec doesn’t deam the stretch a safety issue. I disagree, especially when driving at night using those lines as a distance measure between the lanes and the median.

Zafran wasn’t taking photos while driving. He was stopped next to an accident on his right.
