Sex Party on Australian Budget: Tax Churches, Not Families!

Australian Sex Party President Fiona Patten has sought for solutions for the Australian citizens for releasing tax burden. Government has released budget recently and opposition leader Tony Abbott has criticized a few portions of that budget very strongly. Fiona Patten is searching for immediate steps to release tax burden from the families. Overhauling tax concessions are given to different churches for religious acts as reported by many media sources.

She remarked that less than 8 percent of the Australian citizens go to churches quite regularly. A large section is not regular and rests are believed to be atheists. She added that many Australian citizens would be shocked after knowing the fact that the churches are surpassing billions of dollars taxes. Further she stated that tax exemptions to the religious organizations or churches are costing the tax payers by 20 billion USD per year. Exemptions of capital tax, GST concessions are some of the added benefits that the churches are getting. Due to so many concessions, common citizens of Australia are carrying huge load of taxes every year.

Patten stated that churches are making it huge through investing dollars in the real estate and other companies. If they can invest and make profit then why not they participate in the taxpaying process? Further she remarked that Australia is only a few amongst those countries, which provide such lucrative concessions to the churches.

For an example, Sanitarium, owned by Seventh Day Adventists, is stated to possess nearly 25 percent of the cereal market and through that it is making around 300 million USD every year. Hence, in comparison to the investors, they are getting unjustified advantages if they are not being dragged into the tax eligibility. This is a valid point that has been made by her and has enough logic, which may compel the Australian government to change policy for the religious organizations in future days.

She mentioned that the policy is there for a long time and thus it is truly difficult to measure the amount that has been lost due to non payment of taxes. The churches are connected with nonprofit organizations and charitable commissions. These are the connections which are saving them from taxpaying. But, nowadays, it can no more be justified as things are changing drastically and to present better human social justification taxation policy should be imposed on them.

He remarked that for this issue she will carry out nationwide campaigns to gather public support!
