Sex: Not Just Good, But Good For You



So we know sex is exciting, but is it essential? The answer is simply, yes.

According to investigators, making love could be one of the few desires in life that is sincerely good for you.

Not only does sex increase your mood, but regular lovemaking also increases levels of immunoglobulin, key immune cells that battle infection. There is also mounting evidence to show it not only increases your corporeal well-being, but escalates longevity.

A burst of small studies advises sex is as good for your wellbeing as vitamin D and broccoli. A healthy sex life not only releases stress, mends sleep and burns calories; it can also decrease pain, ease downheartedness, strengthen blood vessels, increase the immune system and lower the peril of prostate and breast cancer.

There is one caution, however. “We do not have decent data to show a straight connection [to all-around good health]," says Jennifer Bass, the head of information facilities at the Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender and Reproduction in Bloomington, Ind. "We be familiar with that healthier people have more sexual activity. But we do not know which arises first. Does the good health make you more eager to have sex, or does the sex have an optimistic impact?”

And you dirty girls and Don Juans should know that the expected health welfares of sex are normally thought to increase to people in loving, monogamous relationships or those hovering solo. Dangerous sex with lots of buddies will probably do more damage than good.

Sex is a type of exercise, after all, and like all workouts, it burns calories and can benefit battle the attack of the years. In fact, nursing home specialists say they wish old people would have more sex.

Can sex actually make you live longer? Maybe. In the same people of British men quoted earlier, investigators found a 50 percent decrease in overall humanity in the group of men who said they had the greatest number of orgasms. There was a dose reaction: the more orgasms, the healthier.

Of course, as Kinsey’s Bass retells us, it could be that these guys were just in good health and felt like having sex more often. But meanwhile there’s no proof that lots of sex is depraved for you, is there anything to lose then?
