Canada's Basketball Champions: London Wins 116-92 over Halifax Rainmen

After a tremendous season Halifax Rainmen fall to the London Lightning 116-92 to the London Lighting. The London Lightning are the first ever National Basketball League of Canada champions.

In May 2011, the Saint John Mill Rats, Halifax Rainmen and Quebec Kebs came together to form the National Basketball League of Canada.

The London Lightning, Moncton Miracles, Oshawa Power and Summerside Storm round out the roster for the inaugural 2011-2012 36-game season.

Basketball was invented by Canadian Dr. James Naismith. The first ever NBA game was held on November 1, 1946 in Toronto, between the Toronto Huskies and the New York Knickerbockers.

Today, basketball is among the fastest growing and most popular sports in Canada. Over 600,000 Canadians ages 15 and older play the game regularly.
