Gender Reveal Party Ends With 1 Dead And 8 Injured in Ohio

A gender reveal party in Colerain Township, Ohio, ended in devastation when two men opened fire and killed a 22-year-old woman and injuring 8 more, including the pregnant woman and three children.

During a news conference Sunday, July 9, Colerain Township Police Chief Mark Denney said that two men dressed in black broke into the home and fired handguns in the living room where guests were watching a movie. Denney said that the assailants fled on foot and have not yet been identified or arrested.

The woman that was killed was identified as Autumn Garrett from Indiana. The three children that were shot were ages 2, 6 and 8. Fortunately, none of the people that were wounded have life-threatening injuries.

According to CBS affiliate WKRC-TV, the pregnant woman throwing the party lost the baby after being shot.

It is not known if any of the victims knew the shooters, but they apparently fired into the party at random.

"I did talk to the officer that was the first one on the scene and he just said it was horrific," police spokesman James Love said. "He said it was something that was unimaginable, and when he started for calling for help, he said, 'what do I say? I need ambulances, I need people to help me out here.'"
