The Old Testament account of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden is an abbreviated version of what actually happened. The real story has been changed through a long tradition of selection and revision. The ancient Scriptures which were ignored give us a different story. For example, according to the Haggadah, the source of Jewish legend and oral tradition, the following happened after they ate of the forbidden fruit:
