Ottawa: Upcoming Festivals, Fairs and Fun Runs

As the summer winds down, Ottawa is serving up many great September events all around the city. Whether you’re looking to get some exercise, enjoy the fall weather or do something indoors, our nation’s capital is sure to deliver.

Ottawa September Festivals and Fairs

The Ottawa Folk Festival started on September 6 at Hog’s Back Park, about ten minutes from Carlington. This five day festival will feature amazing music, dance, arts and crafts, beer gardens and plenty of activities to keep the whole family busy. Performers include Bon Iver, Great Lakes Swimmers, Black Dogs and many others. Buy your tickets now or register to volunteer.

The Richmond Fair begins September 13 in Richmond, Ontario, about fifteen minutes from Stittsville. This year features two new rides, in addition to livestock shows, live entertainment, trade shows, demolition derbies and more. Performers include Shane Yellowbird, Blackwell, George Hamilton IV and more. Admission on Thursday is free.

Ottawa Fun Runs (and Walks) for Charity

The 3 km and 8 km Carefor Run/Walk will happen on September 1 at 8 a.m. The race is located at the Terry Fox Athletic Facility, just ten minutes from Old Ottawa South. If you collect $100 in donations, registration is free. Volunteers and donations are always needed and appreciated. Carefor Health and Community Services is a charitable organization that provides home health services like assisted living, nursing and caregiver support.

The Parkinson’s Society Ottawa 17th Annual Superwalk will take place in Andrew Haydon Park, moments from the Bayshore Shopping Centre, September 8 at 10:30 a.m. Be sure to register if you are interested in walking. If you’re unable to come to the Superwalk, you can still show your support by sponsoring a walker. Prizes are given to those who raise $50 or more.

An Upcoming Ottawa Exhibition

The Canadian Museum of Nature in Centretown will host: Nature Unleashed – Inside Natural Disasters on September 28. The exhibit will focus on the power of all kinds of natural disaster and their effect on our planet. Tickets are available online.
