Great places to go for a first date in Sydney

Dating Sydney singletons can be daunting especially if you are new to the area or have been single for a while. However, when you do finally take the plunge and go on a date with someone then there are plenty of fabulous places you can go with them to break the ice.

Things to consider

One of the most important things to consider when deciding on where to go on a first date is both you and your date’s interests, likes and dislikes and phobias. You might love reptiles but if they are terrified of them and you take them to a reptile show, it will go down like a lead balloon and you probably won’t see them again. Showing them you have chosen something you both like demonstrates that you have listened and care about their experience as well as your own. Most people appreciate consideration in a potential partner.

A quiet drink is a great way to have a conversation with someone new but it is unlikely to be memorable and can often make daters feel like they are being interviewed. Of course, you are both trying to establish whether you are right for one another, and you might even be secretly be working through a mental checklist but there are more fun ways to do it.

Think outside the box

Sydney is a wonderful city with wonderful scenery and an amazing nightlife so the sky is the limit when it comes to fun dates. If you both being in the ocean then why not go surfing? Australia is ideal for it. You can get a surf lesson together. Loosen up and don’t be afraid to be a bit silly. It can be endearing and help them to associate you with fun and laughter.

If you don’t fancy braving the waves, what about a day on the beach? Take an adventure of that golden Aussie sand. You could play volleyball, bond over an ice cream and if the mood’s right, watch the sun set.

If you are a both music fans and have a shared taste in music why not go to an outdoor concert?  The vibes are usually great at concerts and it is a great way to bond. Music helps most people unwind. Bring a blanket and sit on the grass or have a boogey and show your date your best moves.

Fancy yourself as a bit of a romantic? Then you could take a stroll through Wendy’s Secret Garden in Lavender Bay. The garden is lush with palm trees, colourful flowers and the perfect place for a picnic.  Alternatively you could pretend you are in a romantic novel and hire a row boat from Audley Boatshed at Royal National Park.

Dinner in itself is on par with a quiet drink, forgettable so if you are going to go for a meal then why not do it on the ferris wheel at Luna Park? It will have to be a Sunday date though and it is only open from October to March but it is one way to start and end your date on a high.
