Sexual surrogates helps dysfunctions - Contrasts with Prostitution

Erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, love-shyness, painful sex, dating anxiety, lack of confidence, trouble with intimacy, sexual addiction and unwanted sexual fetishes are some of the typical problems faced by people who have sexual dysfunction. A sexual surrogate can help such people reach their sexual potential.

From time to time they get to sleep with their clients, so why not just call them prostitutes? After all, they are having sex with strangers in some cases and are being paid. Sexual surrogacy is not oriented toward return business like prostitution.

A predetermined number of sessions are provided for the client depending upon their problem. In addition, treatments are offered that are akin to those of other mental health professionals.

Sexual surrogates get to enjoy tons of wild and crazy sex with their clients. Wrong! This is a misconception of the profession. The surrogates instead offer therapeutic exercises that are geared to help the patient resolve their sexual or social problem. Virgins that are well over the 50 mark may not openly reveal their status in public, but that does not mean that they don’t exist. Beth Krakower, a Florida psychotherapist and a certified sex therapist recently treated a 54-year-male virgin. The Virgin had poor social skills that prevented him from participating in a normal sexual life.

Sexual surrogacy has been around for ages, but the Film, The Sessions has brought it to the limelight. In it a certified sexual surrogate helps a 38-year old virgin into losing his virginity. The man, a poet by the names of Mark O’brien was paralyzed from the neck down due to polio. Masters and Johnson, a research team formally introduced the practice to the public eye in the 1970s with their work on “Human Sexual Inadequacy” although the practice was around well before then with the likes of the Japanese geishas, the Venetian courtesans and the Hindu tantricas.

The biggest portion of sexual surrogacy clients are men, who face sexual competence issues. While some problems may stem from physical disabilities, a number of them stem from psychological traumas that stem from sexual abuses or histories of sexual shame or embarrassment. Such clients generally do not find sex enjoyable and their anxiety over sexual performance is often crippling leaving them feeling isolated and stuck in a perpetual cycle of sexual failures.

A sexual surrogate can have therapeutic exercises with their client such as relaxation techniques, teaching social skills, and intimate communication as well as a bit of sexual touching.

The surrogates are normally the last resort for people who want to face their sexual problems. They are part of the treatment that may be recommended by a sex therapist. This means that the patient is working with two people, the supervising therapist and the surrogate.

According to certified sex therapist Margie Nichols: “There is a difference between talking about sex and actually having it”. This means that it is advantageous to use both surrogacy and talk therapy when helping clients.
