CFL: Grey Cup to be showcased on U.S. Television
The league is expected to substantially benefit from the new deal signed between CFL and NBC Sports Network. This year, in accordance with agreement terms, NBC Sports Network will cover all CFL games, which also includes the Grey Cup.
Following its falling apart from the NFL Network, there was significant discussion on if and when CFL would succeed in landing a deal with some other U.S. television network. But only months after scant new on the subject, a decisive agreement has at length been concluded with the U.S. sports television network. Upon examining details of the agreement reached, it wait certainly seems to have been worth it.
Getting on U.S. television anywhere, is a positive move for CFL as, besides drawing as well as retaining U.S. fans, broadcasts on television can provide the league with publicity from across-the-border, which will probably play a great role in recruitment of new players; while helping to maintain the current line-up content and in close contact with families and friends in the U.S.
Yet again, signing a deal with this U.S. sports television network was a lot better, as NBC Sports Network, outside ESPN family, is debatably the most thriving multi-sport network. Precise setup of the arrangement, which includes Grey Cup and other playoff broadcasts - something that was probably more difficult to achieve previously - has loads of elements to boost CFL along further.
Live show of the popular Grey Cup, that too on a persuasively-prominent U.S. sports television network, especially the one where amongst other shows the and NHL are broadcast as well, is simply great for CFL image. In so far as the league is concerned, the cup is not only its biggest event, in addition to being its major selling point as well; it's also something that a large number of viewers in American have inquired about, as of some recent years. Couple of last seasons have however seen CFL limit itself to networks with relatively small reach or perhaps exclusively to online internet coverage, as CFL's deal with the NFL Network did not extend to its Grey Cup coverage.
Now, this new deal between CFL and NBC Sports Network will change all of that. Moreover, it could serve as the big step taken by CFL to establish its unique brand further down the southern border. The fact that the 100th Grey Cup will be held at Toronto this year, with an enormous celebration surrounding it; making it a lot more compelling for U.S. television viewers.
