Over the years, Online Dating has become very popular, with the advancement of technology, finding a relationship has become so much easier. However, this convenience comes at a price; there are thousands of dating sites out there all of which claim to find you your true love or simply a fun experience. This may be true or at least true on their behalf, while for the new, unprepared user, this may not be the same.

One problem that many online dating newbies face is the part in which they run into a fake profile. Some profiles seem suspicious, while others seem perfectly okay. Either way, it’s still very easy to create a fake dating profile, so it just depends whether the criminal is good enough to lure you in.

One way to prevent yourself from being crooked is by doing some research on the user. Firstly, thanks to Google, we are now able to do an image recognition search on any photo we find on the web. All you have to do is drag the profile picture of the user into the search box at Google Images. In less than a second, you should have a variety of the same photos or similar looking photos in front of you. Now all you have to do is check if the name of the user’s profile corresponds with the name closest to the photo on Google.

There also exists another website called TinEye.com that may be used for the same purpose if you would prefer. Basically, if the user’s name is completely different in the two instances then it is probably better for you to look elsewhere or at least confront the user regarding the situation.

The choice lies with you; however, you should be very careful if such suspicion arises. If your dating service provides it, you may also report the user and allow them to handle the matter. Secondly, if you are asked for money by a user, then the person is most likely a scammer.

The best thing to do is avoid such users and pretend that you never even knew them. Fraudsters will do almost anything to get you under their control; you may even fall in love with the user. That is of course, how they have you do exactly what they want. You should always be careful and prepared for such scammers.

Lastly, if you ever encounter a profile description that seems poorly written, a bit empty, or too mediocre, it may not be fake by certainty, in fact, such profiles may merely be written by someone who is a bit nervous or bad typer. The possibilities are endless; however, you should probably avoid such users as well.

Hopefully by reading this article you have learned what is necessary to protect yourself from online dating fraudsters. However, if you do not follow these guidelines carefully, you may be caught like thousands of others.

Online dating can be a lot different in real life than in your head. Fraudsters may employ various other tactics that you have never heard of or read about. You should always be aware and think carefully whenever making drastic decisions regarding online dating. Don’t be caught by fraudsters, the Internet is not always as safe as you think.
