Police investigating suspicious fire at Saudi Arabian embassy in Aylmer



AYLMER, Qc — Gatineau Police are working to determine the cause of a massive fire that leveled the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Aylmer.

The fire broke out at around 12:20 a.m., Saturday, and firefighters were on scene battling the blaze for most of the morning.

Police consider the fire suspicious.

Police told 1310News that the embassy has been sitting abandoned for a few months, but believe someone broke into the building that sits around 100 metres back from the road.

Investigators were still on scene Sunday, combing through the rubble.

Police are asking anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the fire to contact them.
