The GTA's Team the Oshawa Power lost a tough one on the road against the league’s best team the London Lighting in overtime 129-117.  The Oshawa Power and London Lightining are teams in Canada's new professional basketball league: National Basketball League of Canada (NBL).

The Power started off slowly on the road in a raucous John Labatt Centre against their Ontario rivals, but battled back the rest of the way to make it a close game down the stretch. Clutch jump shots made by all-star candidate Omari Johnson and Canadian point guard Tut Ruach helped the Power force overtime.

“We got back to what makes us a good team and that’s defend and rebound,” said coach Robert Brickey after the game. “When we do those two things we are a pretty good team.”

Reigning NBL Canada Player of the Week Brandon Robinson continued his terrific play recording 27 points and 6 rebounds. Number one overall draft pick Morgan Lewis matched Robinson’s total with 27 points of his own and added 8 rebounds.

The Lightning got a clutch perform from Eddie Smith who came off the bench and poured in a game high 32 points and 7 assists. Tim Ellis added 29 points and a team-high 11 rebound.

The next Power home game is Thursday February 9 as they take on the Moncton Miracles and former Oshawa Power player Akeem Wright.
